In July 2010, I was up at Eagle Bluffs on Cypress early one morning - like really early. I was trying to do a balancing yoga pose - left arm stretched out - right hand holding toe of right leg out to the right - working really hard to keep my focus and my balance. My bright pink sweater attracted a little hummingbird, who just flew right up to my outstretched arm, right around my wrist, and just hovered. She was probably wondering how it could look so delicious and taste so woolly. The hummingbird stayed for maybe 5seconds - by then my focus was completely gone, as was my balance. I put my foot down and moved just enough to startle my little visitor who disappeared instantly.
I just stood there for a few minutes and savored what had just happened. It was necessary to securely package the memory so I'd never lose it. And all I could think about how was unbelievably lucky I am.
My other "Stuff that makes you go Wow" story is here http://monierakhan.blogspot.com/2010/08/coupla-years-ago.html
